Mother and Child by Mary Cassatt

She busies herself with her embroidery,
As the wind blows outside,
The sound scares her child.
In her mother’s lap
She hides.

Soon the child will grow up,
And venture away from her home,
And there her mother will embroider,
Sitting all alone.
