Hitchhiker by Steven Pena
Raindrops lightly tapping
on metal roof and shoulders.
Safe inside the steel frame
and leather seats.
Driving.
Standing silently, arm outstretched,
awaiting.
There, in the pale light of high beams,
Thumb up.
Just trying to get home.
